The best board games for two players
Lots of games say '2–4 players' on the box but are at their best with more. These are the games in our catalogue that work well with just the two of you, plus a few to avoid.

Made for exactly two
Jaipur
2 players · 30 min · 10+ · ₹2,000–2,150, English/Hindi edition
You're rival traders in Jaipur's markets, selling goods for rupee tokens and keeping a herd of camels. It's quick and tense, it's designed only for two, and Yes Papa Games sells an English/Hindi edition in India.
Watch out: It never goes beyond two players, so it won't help at a family gathering.

Best quick strategy game
Splendor
2–4 players · 30 min · 10+ · ₹2,999–4,500, imported
Collect gem tokens, buy cards, and let each card make the next purchase cheaper. With two, turns come round fast and you can plan a few moves ahead.
Watch out: There's no Indian edition, and prices swing from ₹2,999 for a Funskool import to ₹4,500 at specialist stores. Be wary of listings far below that.

Best-looking game for two
Azul
2–4 players · 30–45 min · 8+ · ₹4,299–4,999, English/Hindi edition
You draft coloured tiles and arrange them on your own wall. With two, every pick is also about which tiles you leave for the other person.
Watch out: Clone risk is high: unbranded 'Azul' sets sell for around ₹1,200. Look for Plan B or Next Move on the box.

Best for a calm evening
Wingspan
1–5 players · 40–70 min · 10+ · ₹3,999 (Hindi edition) to ₹6,200
Build a nature reserve of birds, each with a small ability that makes later turns stronger. It's peaceful rather than cut-throat, and it also has a solo mode.
Watch out: Every Indian store we checked was out of stock on 4 October 2026, so expect a wait.

Cheap and quick, better with more
Exploding Kittens
2–5 players · 15–20 min · 7+ · about ₹940–1,130 for the Indian edition
It works with two and costs around ₹1,000, so it's an easy add-on to a bag or a gift.
Watch out: The chaos builds with four or five players; at two it's over very quickly.
